CES, Quarter One Program Review

The one-day workshop on 24th/May/2023 is meant for the Nutrition Program implementing partners in Central Equatoria State (CES) to provide their Quarter one progress status of the indicators versus the annual program targets for 2023.

AFOD South Sudan is the implementing partner for nutrition in Terekeka County of CES covering all the 9 payams.

In attendance were the Donors WFP and UNICEF, the State Ministry of health, and other implementing partners from other counties of Lainya, Loka, Kajokeji, Yei and Juba of Central Equatoria.

The one day workshop is important for partners to track and share the program progress and performance, the lessons learnt, good practices, challenges faced during implementation and possible mitigating measures to enable continuous delivery of services to the beneficiaries.

The attendants came up with the following recommendations to improve the program implementation:-

  • Partners should properly understand their indicators and the measurable targets to enable proper program implementation and tracking.
  • Partners should intensify the use of Mother to Mother Support Groups to enable deeper penetration of nutrition prevention services into the communities.
  • The implementing partners should be innovative in their programing given the volatile implementation environment affected by budget cuts across all major Donors, climate changes and other factors.
  • Demonstration gardens at the facilities should be implemented in small scales. And this should be expanded at the communities to encourage diversity.
  • Partners should share experiences to enable standard implementation of cooking demonstrations both at the facilities and communities.
  • Partners should scale up the on-job training and mentoring for the support staff during the support and supervision visits to improve program quality.
  • Program managers should visit all or most of the sites to ensure efficiency and effectiveness during program implementation.

In conclusion, the one day workshop was a successful event with positive remarks from the partners, donors and the State Ministry of Health. The stakeholders appreciate the partners for their continues struggle to deliver services to the beneficiaries despite the constant diverse challenges faced. This was a platform for learning and improvement to ensure the beneficiaries are served Quality to improve their nutrition and health.
