Action for Development South Sudan (AFOD) together with World Food Program (WFP) conducted a joint School Feeding and deworming exercise for two weeks that concluded on 20/October/2019 in Jur river, Wau state, South Sudan.
Many schools have been abandoned or destroyed, inhibiting access to education by children. As a result, enrolment and attendance rates have lowered since 2009. In 2018, following the expansion of the WFP’s school meals program to reach more schools, the enrolment rates are expected to continue to increase.
In 2019, WFP together with AFOD and other partners plan to assist about 460,000 children across 1,045 schools across all the states of South Sudan.
Deworming campaign helps improve child health and school attendance in South Sudan. AFOD with support from it’s partners has been conducting deworming campaigns within Wau state, South Sudan
